Concert Hall Acoustics: Art and Science

Answer to Question 4

True, over the last century we have learnt much about room acoustic science. Good modern hall design builds on this knowledge. But an architect is in charge of building design, and they don't usually have any training in acoustics. Consequently, it is necessary to have an acoustic consultant as part of the design team, to advise the architect. A good relationship between architect and acoustician is therefore vital for a good concert hall.
