About me

I am from Maceió, a city in the Northeast of Brazil where I finished my graduation in Architecture in 2002. At the end of my course, I started to be interested in acoustics. Therefore, I initiated my MSc, which I concluded in two years under the supervision of Elvira Viveiros. My project was a comparative approach between architectural acoustics and the history of Brazilian dwellings. Afterward I taught in a college for six months, and then I decided to enter in a doctorate program to consolidate my academic knowledge. In my first year as a doctorate student in Brazil, I submitted a sandwich project to Alβan program to study in Salford under the supervision of Andy Moorhouse, and I was very pleased when I was approved. Besides the quality of my studies, I hope to make good acquaintances in Salford and learn about another culture and also to share some of my own.

About the Project

In this project we intend to investigate the influence of low frequencies in evaluation of sound insulation in buildings. The acoustic building performance in low frequencies is currently a limiting factor in many constructions. This region of frequency is a reason for many complaints and also the most difficult one to control: however, it is not considered in most of the regulations. The aim of this project is to develop an alternative to reverberation time measurements based on a calibrated volume velocity source.
