Science of Sound
Anechoic ChamberSound is one of the primary means of communication.
The science of sound is about the production, transmission, manipulation and reception of sound; from unwanted traffic noise to beautiful music. Without control, sound may damage the environment, cause deafness and create annoyance and stress. On the other hand, correct acoustic design can greatly improve quality of life; at work, in public, at gigs, on station platforms, even at home. There are many careers in sound, from recording studios and live concerts to speaker and microphone development and design.

This section of the site has information on the kinds of careers that you can pursue in sound. It also has links to some other topics, such as 'why doesn't a duck's quack echo?' and 'can you break glass with sound?' and 'guess the room'...
